We believe the district has strengths in four distinct strands which, when combined, make Rotorua unique. Capturing what our real strengths are and identifying opportunities will help us build on our strengths to make our community stronger and our district better.

Sustentable town

Fully fenced playground
Rotorua needs a decent fully fenced children's playground, every playground in Adelaide was fenced off and perfect for our mothers groups, it's extremely hard here to take multiple kids to a park and not have to worry of one kid escaping while you feed the baby. It's not a big ask or hard but it's very much needed please!

Maintain the laid back vibe
It is great for Rotorua to be prosperous and host lots of events and tourists but we should be proud of our low key way of life and make sure we don't turn into the next Queenstown.

I suggest that our Council set a native tree fence in the Kauae Cemetery alongside the main road with small attractive tarata (lemonwood).

Noise Control Officer's manual to be improved for realistic situation and efficiency
I noticed that Noise Control Officers usually carry on their duty passively. When a resident calls the Council for their neighbour's noise, the Officers tend to come to the spot in 30 minutes or 1 hour or so, but stop on the roadside while their vehicle is still idling. In this case, the Officers cannot hear the noise clearly because of the big distance and the engine noise from vehicle. And the Officers just think the noise is not big enough or there was no noise at the time of arrival. This is irresponsible. Therefore, the noise control manual is to be updated more meticulously. First, the Officers have to contact the persons that creates the noise, without exception. Second, the Officers have to approach the nearest spot to the noise, not any more from the roadside inside the vehicle. Third, the Officers have to speak to the complainant if necessary (when the complainant calls the receptionist can ask if it is necessary) because the noise is the problem to the exact spot in which the complainant complains. Fourth, the supervisor of the Officers have to supervise their team more properly.
