Seeking community representatives for Waikawau/Hannahs Bay Reserve Committee

The Waikawau/Hannahs Bay Reserve Committee is looking for two passionate community members to help guide the future management and development of the reserve.

These two voluntary roles are for anyone in Rotorua that has an established and ongoing association with the reserve, the Eastern suburbs of Rotorua and its communities. They must work together with representatives from Ngāti Uenukukōpako and Ngāti Te Roro o te Rangi and an appointed Councillor or Committee Member and must be able to represent the interests of the wider Rotorua community when it comes to the future of Waikawau/Hannahs Bay Reserve.

Waikawau/Hannahs Bay Reserve is a valuable community recreational space and has important cultural and environmental significance.

Rotorua Lakes Council, representatives from Ngāti Uenukukōpako and Ngāti Te Roro o te Rangi, and the Eastside Community Collective have been working together to develop a draft Reserve Management Plan to support the future management of Hannahs Bay/Waikawau Reserve.

The Waikawau/Hannahs Bay Reserve Management Plan was adopted by Council on 27 June 2019.
