Rotorua Lakes Council is working together with Tūhourangi Tribal Authority and Tarawera community partners on a plan to redevelop Waitōharuru/Tarawera Landing reserve.
Tarawera is one of the most popular lakes to visit in Rotorua and Waitōharuru is well used by locals and visitors for recreation and leisure. Waitōharuru is a key access point to the lake for boats (both private and commercial) and is a base for a number of tourism activities. The area is also culturally and historically significant to mana whenua Tūhourangi and to the Rotorua district.
To help address some of the known issues that result from the popularity of the reserve, a concept plan has been developed for upgrades and improvements to the area.
The 'share your thoughts and ideas' phase has now completed. We will consider these as we move onto the final detailed design phase,
More information on the project is below and thanks for all your feedback!

This submission form is now closed. Thank you to those people that took the time to share their thoughts on the concept plan.
The concept plan has been developed in partnership with Tūhourangi and Tarawera community partners and addresses known issues. Now that we have heard from the community, the next step is to move into detailed design.
Note: While the concept plan does give a general idea of what the redevelopment will achieve, the more detailed aspects such as plantings and park furniture may change as part of the detailed design process.
