What is the Rotorua Way?

    Vision 2030 - The Rotorua Way is the next chapter in the plan towards 2030 and willn will set the direction and priorities for Council for the next three years to build on e progress the district has made so far. It will feed into project, infrastructure and service planning and Council’s spatial plan, annual plans and District Plan.

    Why are you holding a photo competition?

    Council wants to know what makes Rotorua special to you, what you consider the district’s strengths and opportunities are. Telling us in a photo form is a another way to share your stories and tell us,  what you think is special and unique about our district. 

    When can I submit a photo?

    The competition opens on Monday 27 February and closes on Wednesday 7 April 2017 (date extended) 

    How do I submit a photo?

    First you must register with Let’s Talk – Kōrero Mai – see top right of the home page.

    You also need to have read the Terms and Conditions of entry.

    Photos submitted must be 300dpi and no larger than 10MB.

    What if I don’t have a personal email address to register?

    If you don’t have your own email address, get a family member to sign up and use their Let’s Talk – Korero Mai profile to submit your photo. 


    Who can enter?

    There are five categories:

    • Open (18 years and over)
    • Youth (13 – 18 years)
    • Children (12 and under)
    • People’s choice
    • Classroom

    How will winners be selected?

    A panel of four judges will select a winning image for each of the first four categories, based on creativity and relevance to theme.

    The People’s Choice winner will be based on the picture that receives the most amount of votes from the public. 

    When will winners be announced?

    Winners of the first four categories will be announced Wednesday 12 April 2017 (date extended).

    The People’s Choice voting will be open for one week after that with the winner announced following the closure of the voting period.

    How will winners be notified?

    Winners will be contacted via the email/phone contact provided when submitting their photos. 

    What are the prizes?

    The winner of each category (except classroom category) will win a $200 voucher for a Rotorua based activity, experience or eatery of their choice.

    The classroom category winner will win a day out for the whole class to the Redwoods Treewalk and the Rotorua Aquatic Centre. The Redwoods Treewalk is limited to children ages 7 and over so if a younger class is selected as the winner, an alternative activity will be arranged. 

    What will my photos be used for?

    In submitting photos the submitter grants Rotorua Lakes Council full use rights of the image.

    This could include, but is not limited to, social media content, print and digital advertising and promotion.

    Can I enter the competition more than once?

    Yes, you can submit as many photos as you like.
