Feedback on the Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa Strengthening and Restoration Options has closed.

We thank those of our community that participated in this process.

At the 2nd August Infrastructure and Environment Committee meeting elected members voted in favour of proceeding with the strengthening and re-opening of Rotorua’s museum, subject to certain conditions being met, aimed at minimising financial risk. You can read more about the decision here .



Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking feedback on a Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa Strengthening and Restoration Options and elected members want to hear from as many parts of our community and country as possible to help guide their decision-making.

We invite you, as a stakeholder, to consider providing feedback on your preferred option and to also share the call for feedback through your networks to help us reach as many people as possible.

The Strengthening and Restoration Options consultation document sets out three possible options for the project going forward.

Please ensure you are fully informed on the three options outlined for this consultation which can be found in the full consultation document or a physical copy can be collected from the Rotorua Lakes Council Customer Centre or Te Aka Mauri/Rotorua Library.

Elected members want to know what the community thinks about what’s proposed.
