The Lake Okareka Community Association (LOCA) and Rotorua Lakes Council are working on a project to improve the toileting and boat launching facilities at Acacia Road Lakefront Reserve and improve the toilet facilities at Boyes Beach Reserve.
With the application to the Government’s Tourism Infrastructure Fund being successful we are able confirm the scope of the work programme.
Acacia Road Lakefront Reserve
We have funding for:
Resurfacing the existing access to the boat ramp
Resurfacing and extending the boat ramp
Refurbish and extend the existing jetty to increase capacity and provide some protection for swimming between the jetty and the beach
Construct a second jetty on the other side of the boat ramp to improve boat launching and retrieval capacity
In addition to boat ramp improvements, there are further plans to renew toilet block to meet current requirements.
Boyes Beach Recreation Reserve
Relocate and construct a new toilet facilities which includes:
More toilet cubicles
Shower and change rooms
Covered wash up area
