FAQs
What is a Reserve Management Plan?
Under the Reserves Act Council must prepare Management Plans for all reserves under its control. The plan is a strategic document that identifies the aspirations for the reserve and provides a framework for future use and management.
Does this mean the reserve will be getting an upgrade?
A Reserve Management Plan may include actions for changes or upgrades but it is mostly a plan that covers how a recreational space should be managed in the future. This may include what sort of activities are permitted, who makes decisions and any goals or objectives for the area.
What, if any, upgrade is wanted/needed at Hannahs Bay will come out of the consultation.
When will the plan be finalised?
Once the first round of consultation closes on 31 August, Council staff will create a draft Management Plan which will go out to the public for another round of consultation.
Following the second round of consultation staff will use the additional feedback to create a final Management Plan which, depending on the types of feedback received, may include some actions for reserve development.
Elected members will then deliberate on the final plan and adopt it. It is expected this last step will happen early in 2019.
How can I give feedback?
There are a number of ways you can provide feedback, including:
Online at www.rotorualakescouncil.nz/hannahsbay
Send an email to letstalk@rotorualc.nz
Call in to the Mokoia Community Association (297 Vaughan Road) or the main Council building (1061 Haupapa Street) and fill out a form.
Come along to the Hannahs Bay Fun Day on Sunday 12 August 2018
Feedback must be received by 31 August 2018.
Who decided on the four key themes and aspirations?
The themes and aspirations were identified by a project group made up of members from Council, Ngāti Uenukukōpako, Ngāti Te Roro o te Rangi and the Eastside Community Collective.
We encourage people to add their own ideas and aspirations for the reserve or point out things they feel the group may have overlooked.
How much will this cost?
If upgrades or developments are decided for the reserve a budget for and timing of the work will need to be set.
What sort of feedback can I give?
We want feedback that will help us understand what the community wants for the future of Hannahs Bay Reserve.
You could feedback about:
- What is special about the reserve?
- How do you use the reserve?
- What would you like to see there in the future?
- What should stay the same?
- Do you agree with the aspirations identified?
- Have we missed anything?
