Why doesn’t Council invest the funding for this project elsewhere?

Baxendale Reserve and Erlam Place Esplanade Reserve were acquired as part of the subdivision to ensure the community continued to have access to the Utuhina Stream and green space, and now Council will manage these reserves appropriately.

The source of the project funding is a contribution from the developer, not ratepayer funding, and this can only be used for the purpose of developing these specific reserves.

    Why is this development needed?

We need to provide safe pedestrian access along the length of this reserve land and public access to the stream and green space.

Why was Gillam Crescent included in the original concept plan?

A formal path was originally proposed to connect the neighbourhood with the existing shared path network to encourage active transport.  This idea has now been removed from the project plan.
